Raised in Montreal with purely Mediterranean/North African roots, the mixture of cultures added to his incredible hunger to learn from the very best are what molded his style. Through the years, Yanik has developed a very unique sound: Sexy, balearic, and percussion driven, his energy can be recognized as soon as he hits the decks. The story began in 2005 in his hometown where he quickly made his presence felt as a special talent, performing alongside the biggest names in dance music. 
Acknowledgement early in his career from legend Erick Morillo gave Yanik immediate exposure for his Remixes of the Jose Nunez classic 'Bilingual'. Both his profile and artistry grew with subsequent releases on popular Dance music labels such as Subliminal Records, Stoney Boy and Armada. But 2012 was a pivotal year in Coen's career, releasing his single “Throw Your Handz Up”. The record became instant Subliminal & Pacha Ibiza anthems and allowed him to tour Europe for the first time. Later that year, Yanik moved to Miami, a city in which he had experienced some incredible moments during the WMC era. A city where he truly felt his sound belonged, and he wasn’t wrong. He rapidly went on to dominate the scene and became one of the most influential & sought after DJs in the US, co-founding and curating arguably one of the country’s most iconic weekly parties of the past 20 years. His influence has clearly set a refreshing direction in Miami nightlife, slingshotting House music back to it's forefront; which was a mission of his from day one. 

With experience very few can boast about, Yanik has become known for his versatility. His knowledge is deep and his ability to adapt on the fly by controlling the atmosphere using different genres and mixing styles are unparalleled. His focus is now set on running his events brand and label Not Everyone Understands™️ dividing his time between Miami and Ibiza. His own early releases on the label, "Frisky" & "I miss U" in 2021 have been very well received by radio & DJs worldwide, notably in the UK and France. 2022 saw Yanik revive a Club Space & Miami anthem "Party in Miami" alongside vocalist Eday, using her original work recorded in 2003. Support on this release & remixes has been amazing, not only domestically but globally as well.
